The Campbell laboratory group addresses questions related to the perception and allocation of carbon during plant growth, development, and response to environmental conditions. Our work examines how gene expression shapes these processes, with a focus on the involvement of specific gene regulatory proteins in the orchestration of such gene expression. We are particularly interested in the functional genomics of plant biomass accumulation as it relates to bioenergy / biofuel production, and how environmental factors, like drought, impinge on biomass accumulation.
