Dr. Aucoin research interest is in the area of process dynamics of virus-based systems for the production of complex biologics such as viral vectors and vaccines, and the development of strategies using multiple viruses to obtain recombinant products in cell culture.

Other research interests include:

• Design of MEMS devices
• Dynamics of transduction and infection
• Biological regulation and genetic manipulation
  

Dr. Aucoin received his BASc and MASc from University of Waterloo. He obtained his PhD at Université de Montréal (École Polytechnique).

Dr. Aucoin is the chair of the Biotechnology Division of the Canadian Society for Chemical Engineers, is a faculty advisor for the University of Waterloo’s international Genetically Engineered Machine (iGEM) competition student team and is the academic contact for the International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering (ISPE).
