Next-Generation Sequencing 101

OGI and The Centre for Applied Genomics (TCAG) partnered to co-host a 1 hour web conference/webinar about next generation sequencing services at the facility. The presentation was led by Dr. Sergio Pereira, Next Generation Facility Manager at TCAG and provided information on:
- Overview of TCAG and services provided
- NGS technologies at TCAG
- NGS experimental design
- whole genome vs. exome sequencing
- RNA-seq
- CHiP-Seq
- Metagenomics
- Mate pairs, paired end, etc.
- Laboratory workflow (library prep, emulsion PCR, turnaround time)
- Data analysis (how is data processed and given to clients)
- Additional bioinformatics support
- NGS costs
