Pathway and Network Analysis:
Bioinformatics Hands-on Full Day Training Session in Ottawa
Date: Tuesday, March 29, 2011
Venue: Conference Room 3, Main Floor, Loeb Building
CIVIC Campus, Ottawa Hospital
725 Parkdale Avenue
Ottawa, Ontario
City: Ottawa, Ontario
The Ontario Genomics Institute (OGI) and The Centre for Applied Genomics (TCAG), in partnership with StemCore Laboratories, hosted a one-day training session on bioinformatics tools for interpreting gene lists from 'omics' data (e.g. gene expression, protein expression, molecular interactions, large-scale genetic screens and other omics data). The session focused on annotating, providing functional information and analyzing pathways and networks from a gene list using GeneMANIA and Cytoscape - both of which are freely available tools on the web.

The session consisted of both presentations and hands-on lab time including:

An introduction to gene lists, network visualization and analysis using Cytoscape and also pathway analysis using enrichment analysis was covered by Dr. Gary Bader during the morning session.
