The
Ontario Genomics Institute (OGI) and
The Centre for Applied Genomics (TCAG), in partnership with
StemCore Laboratories, hosted a one-day training session on bioinformatics tools for interpreting gene lists from 'omics' data (e.g. gene expression, protein expression, molecular interactions, large-scale genetic screens and other omics data). The session focused on annotating, providing functional information and analyzing pathways and networks from a gene list using GeneMANIA and Cytoscape - both of which are freely available tools on the web.
The session consisted of both presentations and hands-on lab time including:
An introduction to gene lists, network visualization and analysis using Cytoscape and also pathway analysis using enrichment analysis was covered by Dr. Gary Bader during the morning session.

Enrichment analysis concepts and gene function prediction using GeneMANIA was covered by Dr. Quaid Morris during the afternoon session.
